Here come the big cars …

“This has to be the best grid of cars ever.” Motorsport Magazine 2017

An extraordinary grid of 38 exotic big bore race cars competed in front of 45,000 people at the American Speedfest at Brands Hatch on 1st and 2nd June 2019. Those race results are in pdf here and the race reports are in pdf here. There was no Speedfest in 2020 so we are looking forward to the first weekend in July.

Sat 4th September 2021, Brighton Speed Trials. What is recognised as the oldest race meeting in the UK, having been held regularly since 1905, a very different meeting, but if you’ve not been before a really fun day. Competing against the clock, who is up for having a shot at beating the current record at the Speed Trials which stands at 8.90 Seconds set in 1993. About time that this was beaten!! The guys at the Brighton Speed Trials write “We need a lot more entries for this year’s Frosts Brighton National Speed Trials. If you have not entered yet then please do so by going to brightonandhovemotorclub.co.uk and click on the Online Entries and Tickets tab where you can pay using Paypal. The club has had to outlay an additional £8,000 for safety to satisfy Motorsport UK so if you cannot compete come along and watch this great event.  Tell all of you friends what a great day out it is. Tickets on the gate are £15 (for a full day of fun) and children under 14 go free. Please support the club and let’s keep this historic event running every year”.

Sat 11th September,  AC Owners Club Sprint Meeting at Goodwood. As members of the 750 Motor Club we are all invited to the Sprint meeting being held at the famous Goodwood circuit. If you’ve not been before it’s always a great day with some fantastic machinery on the track. The note below is from the AC Owners club to our series members inviting them to the meeting and confirming that we will have our own category at the meeting: “It’s always a laid back affair with a real eclectic mix of cars. Any interesting car is welcome, including production road cars, as long as they meet the basic sprint safety rules as per MSUK. Remember 105db noise limit! Sprint format is described in ASRs but in short, is single lap runs of the circuit. Fastest time wins! Each competitor gets a practice run and 3 runs for the competition. Once everyone has completed their 3 runs, the queue is opened to anyone wanting to carry on. We have a limited entry list at the moment, so there is potential for a lot of track time. I have attached entry forms and ASRs. If you can bring a decent bunch, we can do your own class. If only a couple, we will put them in with an appropriate class with similar machinery. Feel free to forward this on to any interested peddlers. The minimum license is Interclub (No ARDS test required) so it’s a good opportunity for those that don’t normally compete to have a go. You can also enter 2 drivers in one car so it’s great for parent/child, husband/wife and sibling show-downs! Don’t worry if you’re not in an official invited club, we can sort you into something appropriate if needed”.
